The next big thing in internet video is live streaming apps.
What these services enable you to do is to shoot video on your phone and broadcast it live to the world in real time.
This service basically makes anyone with a smartphone a video broadcast station.
Just a couple months ago, 2 big players launched their live streaming services: Meerkat and Periscope.
When a new social media platform launches, usually people don’t really know what to do with it, so it’s like the wild west.
Right now there’s mostly alot of random people filming their own brand of reality TV.
But some people are using it really well, like my favorite band, U2. At their concerts, they’re doing a segment where they have someone from the audience get on stage and film them for a live stream on Meerkat. They project the feed onto the screen at the event, and you can see people from all over the world posting comments in real time.
I’ve also seen businesses filming what amounts to live impromptu webinars or trainings and picking up an audience of several hundred viewers spontaneously. This is possible because the technology is so new and the space isn’t crowded yet.
It’s good for you to know about new innovations in video marketing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to get on this band wagon right now.
The best thing you can do is to create a video marketing plan, and then execute on that plan consistently. That’s how you’ll get real results.
